We finally released our last patient from the COVID ward today. This nonagenarian had been with us in the hospital for 44 days. We have gotten really close to her with her charming demeanor while occasionally exhibiting pleasant dementia.
I am not gonna miss the long and lonely hours that I have spent at that ward. We have learned a lot about this disease and continue to do so. We have been humbled by the unpredictability of the virus. We wept together. We rejoiced together. We got stronger together.
We are ready for the next spike or surge of cases. We hope that it doesn’t happen. We are much more prepared but we are eager to go back to our normal life pre-COVID.
I will miss the food, though.
